Grand Theft Auto V should've felt old news by now, but it really doesn't. People still jump into Los Santos after work, chase payouts, buy silly cars, and argue about whether the next big rumour is real. With GTA 6 expected in late 2026, every "free download" claim gets passed around fast. Most of the time, though, it's not the full game being given away. It's an event item, a login bonus, or a bit of cash for doing a featured mode. That's why **s still keep an eye on rewards, discounts, and GTA 5 Money when they're trying to stretch their time in GTA Online without waiting weeks for one purchase.
If someone tells you GTA V is suddenly free, check the details before getting excited. Rockstar has handed out plenty of limited-time rewards, but they're normally tied to GTA Online events. The 4/20 celebration is a good example. Logging in before the April 2026 cutoff didn't add the base game to anyone's library. It gave **s clothing, like the Black LD Organics Tee. There were also extra bits for taking part in Hunting Pack, including a Güffy Drug Rug Hoodie and GTA$100,000 after completing a couple of rounds. Not bad, honestly, but it's not the same as a free copy of the game.

The problem is, GTA Online still doesn't have a proper LSPD career path. No police academy. No badge system. No legal patrol **. The old trick is still the **st one: call 911 from the in-game phone, wait for officers to arrive, then take their cruiser. It works, but it can go sideways quickly. Push your wanted level too high and your "traffic stop roleplay" turns into a citywide shootout. Also, don't try saving a stolen police car in a personal garage. The game doesn't like that, and it usually ends with the vehicle **ing up.
**s with a big bank balance have better options now. Warstock Cache & Carry sells law enforcement vehicles, and while the prices sting, they're useful for organised sessions. A Police Riot Truck or Stanier LE Cruiser can cost millions, but it saves everyone from wasting time stealing cars before a patrol. That matters if you're setting up roadblocks, fake pursuits, or Cops and Robbers nights with friends. Rockstar also moved a little closer to official lawman gameplay with Vincent's bail enforcement work and bounty hunting missions in the summer 2024 update. It's still not a full police **, but it scratches that itch more than most older content did.
For single-** messing about, Director Mode is still handy. You can spawn as an LSPD officer and create your own scenes, though it has limits. You can't start it while wanted, and you can't activate it from inside a vehicle. Achievements are disabled for that session too, so using a spare save is a smart move. That's the odd charm of GTA V in 2026: the official systems only go so far, then the community fills in the blanks. Some **s grind bonuses, some stage patrols, and some look for cheap GTA 5 Money so they can buy the toys needed for the next roleplay night without turning the game into a second **.
